How We Met
It all started one day in the month of January 2007. I
went to visit a friend at her room in Soa (University of
Yaoundé 2) when I met a cousin to Allison by name
Martha Ngoh. She was a friend of mine way back at
school. She asked to have my number that she would
want me to meet a cousin of hers who works in
Douala. I smiled and thought that was another way of
pulling my legs. She later got my number from the
friend whom we were visiting I guess.
After about a week precisely on the 29th of January
2007 while I was in class I received a call. Behold
that was Allison calling. We chatted for a few minutes
and he promised to call me later.
He called me later in the evening and we chatted as though we had known each other for years. We
spoke on phone for about two months without knowing or seeing each other. Allison travelled to South
Africa and asked to pick him up from the airport. Can you imagine somebody I had never seen?
On that graceful day, I woke up very early in the morning (if at all I had slept the previous night) and got
myself ready to pick him up. He later called me and described to me the way he was going to dress and
I did same .It was a very stressful experience I won’t tell a lie. I constantly imagined the kind of person I
will meet at the airport.
I arrived at the airport and behold I saw the man of my dreams. Since that day we have always loved
each other and have always remained inseparable. Since then I have found a friend and a soul mate. I
thank him immensely for filling my life with joy and for loving me ceaselessly, for hearing my thoughts
and understanding my dreams and also for being my best friend.
How it Happened
We had known each other for 15 months. Allison invited me over to his place in Douala.
Upon arrival, he said he had something very important to let me know.
He asked me some very tricky questions like;
How are marriage formalities in our tradition.
Trust me I have never attended any traditional wedding before.
He also asked me what it could like getting married to a Bafaw guy.
I just smiled a said, “it depended on God”.
Later he said he wanted to marry me and said I should inform my family.
I was very shocked but still waited for a day when things where could come to pass.
A day for knock door was later fixed and on the 11th of October 2008 Allison’s came to our
house and set the ball rolling.
